BAGATTELLE:
Saturday, November 15, 2008
A presentational ploy to overcome resistance to major changes perceived to be too expensive, onerous or unacceptable to the other party.
The bagatelle is used by sellers of anything relatively expensive. To protect yourself from the bagatelle, always GROSS up to the full cost (PRICE per slice times the number of slices). To use the bagatelle, break down the total cost of your product into small slices.
For instance, sell paper by the sheet; hospital insurance by the daily charge; cable in three minute units (call Timbuktoo for only $3.52).
Timeshare companies use a brilliant Bagatelle:”a week in Acapulco forever, for the cost of a week in Acapulco.”
